West Bromwich Albion have rejected an approach from Derby County to take winger James McClean on loan, Sky Sports News understands.
Rams boss Gary Rowett is keen to add a winger to his squad and wanted McClean to bring some attacking flair to Derby’s promotion push, but Albion have rebuffed the approach outright.
Alan Pardew sees 28-year-old McClean as a key member of the squad as they battle relegation.
SSN understands reports that Derby tabled a £6m bid for the Republic of Ireland international are wide of the mark.
McClean has made 23 appearances for West Brom this season and although 15 of those have been as a substitute, he has made five starts since Alan Pardew replaced Tony Pulis as manager.
West Brom, who sit 19th in the Premier League, travel to leaders Manchester City on Wednesday before a crucial clash with relegation rivals Southampton at the Hawthorns on Saturday.
