Stoke’s Saido Berahino won his team a penalty against Southampton – but his wait for a goal goes on as he failed from the spot.
The former West Brom forward, who saw his spot-kick saved by Fraser Forster, has not scored for 31 hours and 48 minutes of Premier League football.
It is a goalless drought that stretches back to February 2016 but Stoke boss Mark Hughes insists Berahino is working hard and believes the goals will come.
“I felt for him today,” said Hughes, whose team beat Southampton 2-1 at the bet365. “It would have been great for him to get on the scoresheet.
“He showed personality and was brave enough to grab the ball for the penalty. The ‘keeper got across and made a good save. It will come, he is working hard. He is doing extra over and above what he needs to do.
“He just needs a break, something to fly into the net off his shin.”
