Catch up with the action from Day 2 of the 1st Test between England and Pakistan at Lord's
England claimed two wickets in a largely frustrating first session on day two of the first Test against Pakistan, which saw the visiting side progress to 136-3 – 48 runs behind.
Click play on the video above to watch highlights from the day’s play so far at Lord’s, as Mark Wood and James Anderson struck for England, while Azhar Ali hit 50 for Pakistan before falling to the latter.
England – accused of not bowling full enough in the evening session on day one – were fuller with their lengths on the second morning, but Sohail and Azhar were watchful at first before feasting on over-pitched deliveries with a flurry of three driven boundaries in the space of seven balls.
But the pressure again built after a spell of three straight maidens and, with the final ball before drinks, Wood (1-25) claimed Haris Sohail (39) with a terrific delivery angled in from around the wicket that then straightened and took the left-hander’s edge through to Jonny Bairstow.
It looked like that might be England’s solitary strike of the session until Anderson (1-26), back into the attack for a burst before the lunch break, removed Azhar lbw on the stroke of his 28th Test fifty.
