Brendon Hartley crashes his Toro Rosso into the barriers during P3 of the Spanish GP
Brendon Hartley was involved in a heavy shunt at the Spanish GP after losing control of his Toro Rosso and smashing into the barriers during Practice Three.
Hartley was trying to gain the maximum speed into Turn Nine but edged onto the dirt and promptly spun into the gravel, with the subsequent crash destroying the rear-end of his car.
Thankfully the New Zealander appeared unhurt in the collision after clambering out of the car and reporting he was “ok”, but appeared shaken as he was taken towards the medical car.
The crash, at the end of P3, brought an end to the session and it is unlikely Toro Rosso will be able to rebuild his car for the start of qualifying, which is live and exclusive on Sky Sports F1 at 2pm.
Such was the extent of the damage that the car almost split in two when the recovery truck tried to move it.
