Tamsin Greenways says Wasps have work to do despite perfect Vitality Superleague campaign

Tamsin Greenway says Wasps need to improve despite winning their opening 11 games in the Vitality Superleague.

Wasps, crowned champions in their first season in the competition last year, hold a nine-point advantage at the top of the table, with every other team having lost at least three matches.

The league leaders will aim to extend their winning ways when they travel to Greenway’s former side Surrey Storm, who won back-to-back Superleague championships in 2015 and 2016, on Friday.

“We have still got a lot to work to do, particularly in terms of structure and our work in the attacking end,” Greenway said.

“Our focus has very much been on us and it has stayed like that in preparing for the Surrey Storm game.

“We need to get our own game right and we’re really looking forward to another test and big challenge away from home.”

Storm, with three victories this season, last won on April 28 and sit sixth in the table which makes the meeting pivotal to their hopes of a top-four spot and progress to the semi-finals on June 30.

Wasps’ season began with a 68-43 victory over Friday’s opponents, who are one of only four teams to defeat the Superleague holders.

“I’m expecting Storm to bring it to us. They are coming off the back of some good performances and always have a fantastic home atmosphere which makes it difficult for visiting teams,” Greenway said.

“I’m sure they will be looking to play with no fear against us.”

Our live coverage of the Superleague continues next Monday when Team Bath host Team Northumbria from 6.45pm on Sky Sports Action & Sky Sports Mix, channel 121, which is free for all Sky customers.
