Scunthorpe goalkeeper Matt Gilkes had to be substituted against Rotherham after injuring himself attempting this long throw.
Watch the bizarre moment Scunthorpe goalkeeper Matt Gilks injured himself throwing the ball in the Sky Bet League One play-off game against Rotherham.
The 35-year-old gathered the ball in the 58th minute of Saturday’s semi-final first leg and tried to launch a quick counter-attack for his team.
He raced to the edge of his area, but as he bowled the ball up-field, his momentum carried him into a 360-degree flip.
He went down clutching his knee and immediately signalled to the bench that he needed treatment.
Gilks was forced off the field three minutes later – and his replacement Rory Watson had only been on for two minutes when he was beaten by Joe Newell and Rotherham went 2-1 up.
The game ended in a 2-2 draw when Cameron McGeehan equalised for Scunthorpe in the 88th minute.
The second leg will be shown live on Sky Sports Football next Wednesday evening.
