Rory McIlroy's opening tee shot on day three of the Travelers Championship is delayed by the impromptu arrival of an inquisitive squirrel.
Rory McIlroy was all set to get his third round underway at the Travelers Championship, but he was interrupted in bizarre circumstances on the first tee.
McIlroy had just been announced on the tee and was moments away from taking his first shot of the day, but he was forced to back off amid a chorus of laughter after the impromptu arrival of an inquisitive squirrel.
The friendly rodent bounded onto the tee and took a seat straight in front of the four-time major champion, and it seemed in no hurry to leave as the American commentary team urged McIlroy to hand over an autograph and send him on his way.
After making a hasty exit before coming back for a second viewing, McIlroy’s caddie, Harry Diamond, finally intervened and managed to usher the local inhabitant out of harm’s way.
