World No 2 Roger Federer has confirmed he will defend his Hopman Cup mixed teams tennis title in Perth in December with Switzerland team-mate Belinda Bencic.
The 20-time Grand Slam champion teamed up with Bencic to win the title in January with the tournament set to run from December 29 to January 5.
Federer went onto win the Australian Open after winning the cup for the second straight year.
It will be the fifth time Federer will have taking part in the event and speaking on Tuesday he said: “Perth Arena is a wonderful place to start the new year.
“It’s obviously the perfect preparation for the Australian Open and it worked so well the last couple of years, I can’t wait to come back.”
Also returning are the German pairing of Alexander Zverev and Angelique Kerber, the beaten finalists to Federer and Bencic earlier this year.
“I always like coming back to Perth for the Hopman Cup. It’s my fourth year in a row playing and I always enjoy it,” said Zverev, who has solidified his position in the world’s top five this year.
A German pair last won the Hopman Cup in 1995.
