Nottinghamshire’s Stuart Broad to have scan on heel problem in next 24 to 48 hours

Stuart Broad is to have a scan on the heel problem which hampered him in England’s third Test against Windies at Lord’s.

The Nottinghamshire seamer will have the scan in the next 24 to 48 hours but an ECB spokesman has described the procedure as “precautionary”.

It has also been confirmed Broad’s fellow fast bowler James Anderson will not feature in any of Lancashire’s remaining County Championship matches and will not play again in the current domestic season.

Anderson’s next competitive action will therefore likely be on the Ashes tour of Australia in the winter.

Neither player was selected in the England squad to play Windies in the five-match one-day international series and one-off T20 game which concludes their tour.

Broad has been troubled by his heel injury for much of the summer and was forced to leave the field during Nottinghamshire’s County Championship match against Leicestershire in June after bowling just one over.
