Nicola Adams’ Las Vegas debut was called off shortly before it was due to start.
The two-time Olympic gold medalist was ready to take on Hungarian Alexandra Vlajk on the undercard of Gennady Golovkin against Saul Alvarez at the T-Mobile Arena, on Saturday night.
But just before the 11pm BST start time, a problem with Vlajk’s pre-contest blood test emerged, forcing the Leeds welterweight’s third professional fight to be called off.
She tweeted: “I’m devastated that I’m not boxing tonight, due to a problem with my opponent, thank you everyone for your support and kind messages.”
The 34-year-old made her professional debut in April, out-pointing Virginia Noemi Carcamo and then made her Leeds homecoming in May, stopping Maryan Salazar in the third.
