Watch reaction from Mo Marley and Fara Williams following England Women's 1-0 friendly defeat to France in Valenciennes
Mo Marley said she was proud of England Women’s display in Valenciennes after they ended an eventful week with a late defeat to France.
Substitute Viviane Asseye headed home in the 89th minute of Friday night’s friendly after England ‘keeper Siobhan Chamberlain lost the flight of the ball from a cross.
The 1-0 loss comes after The FA apologised to Eni Aluko on Wednesday for racially discriminatory remarks by former England manager Mark Sampson.
Marley, taking her first game in caretaker charge following Sampson’s dismissal, told Sky Sports: “It’s been a tough week for everyone involved.
“I’m sure there’s a lot of unnecessary energy that has been wasted. I am proud of what they have done, to go through this week and put in a performance like that.
“There’s lot to build on and I think the future is exciting, particularly when we have the ball.”
