Millwall are in early talks to bring Ben Marshall back to the club next season.
The winger joined the Lions from Wolves on loan in January and helped them secure an eighth-place finish in the Sky Bet Championship – their highest league standing since 2002.
Marshall, who has two years left on his deal at Wolves, scored three goals and provided six assists in 17 appearances for Neil Harris’ side.
Sky Sports News understands Wolves are willing to sell the 27-year-old following their promotion to the Premier League, but they are keen to recoup the majority of the £1.2m that they paid to sign Marshall from Blackburn in January 2017.
Millwall’s current record transfer fee has stood since 1989 when they signed forward Paul Goddard from Derby for £800,000.
