Loughborough Lightning host Manchester Thunder on Sky Sports this Monday

Loughborough Lightning host Manchester Thunder in an eagerly-anticipated clash of two unbeaten sides in the Vitality Superleague on Monday night.

Both teams are perfect with three wins out of three and will meet at the Sir David Wallace Arena in front of the Sky cameras.

Lightning head coach Anna Carter has seen her side defeat UWS Sirens, Team Northumbria and Celtic Dragons, while Karen Greig’s Thunder overcame Severn Stars by one point in their first game before producing more accomplished performances against UWS Sirens and Team Northumbria.

Carter, who took over from Karen Atkinson during the off-season, says she is constantly reminded of the big shoes she has to fill.

But she insists she is very much her own person as she aims to take Loughborough back to the Grand Final, where they suffered heartbreak last year.

“It’s a new start, and it’s very much continuing on that journey for the team, and when it matters I’m able to say the right things and give the girls that extra push that’s needed,” said former Yorkshire Jets coach Carter.

“We’d like to make top four this season, but from there anything can happen because it’s going to be a tough season. It’s all about making sure the girls are on track. It may be good for us to get challenged and maybe lose a few games, but make sure that pushes us to be even better.”

Wasps Netball, benecosMavericks and Team Bath are the other unbeaten sides in the Superleague ahead of a full fixture list on Monday night.
