Linares vs Campbell: Luke Campbell ready for clash with ‘great champion’ Jorge Linares

Luke Campbell says his actions will speak louder than his words when he steps into the ring with Jorge Linares on Saturday night.

Campbell (17-1-0-KO14) challenges Linares (42-3-0-KO27) for the Venezuelan’s WBA lightweight title, live and exclusive on Sky Sports Action.

‘Cool Hand Luke’ is bidding to become just the third British Olympic gold medallist – after James DeGale and Anthony Joshua – to become a world champion in the paid ranks.

And the Hull southpaw is relishing the challenge of taking on 45-fight veteran Linares in the Los Angeles suburb of Inglewood this weekend.

“I’ve never been much of a talker,” Campbell told Sky Sports News.

“I always like my actions to speak louder than my words and I don’t want to speak about the fight anymore. I don’t want to speak about what I’m going to do or anything like that, I just want everyone to tune in on Saturday night and see the outcome.

“I am really focused. I can’t remember the time I had focus like this but I need it against such a great champion that Linares is. It’s a great challenge, it’s a challenge I am really up for and it is a challenge I believe I can overcome on Saturday night.”

This weekend’s showdown will be Linares’ third successive fight against English opposition after registering back-to-back wins over Manchester’s Anthony Crolla.

And ‘El Nino’ is bristling with confidence ahead of his showdown with London 2012 gold medallist Campbell.

“I am feeling so excited for this moment,” he said.

“It is the best moment in my life. I am very happy. I am feeling very good and ready for this fight.”

Watch Luke Campbell challenge Jorge Linares, live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Action, from 3am on Sunday.
