Widnes have signed Leeds centre Jimmy Keinhorst on a month’s loan to ease their injury crisis.
Keinhorst, 27, who has appeared in the Grand Final, Challenge Cup final and two World Club Challenges for Leeds, will link up with the Vikings next week but will not be able to play against Coventry in the Challenge Cup.
Widnes coach Denis Betts said: “We are grateful to Leeds for allowing us to take Jimmy on loan.
“Jimmy is an outside back and utility player, who offers solid experience and proven quality.

“Having lost a number of our outside backs to injury recently, his addition to the squad will give us a real boost.”
Widnes are currently without senior outside backs Stefan Marsh, Krisnan Inu, Danny Craven and Patrick Ah Van and lost teenage centre Keanan Brand with a broken leg on his debut at Hull KR last Saturday.
Keinhorst scored a hat-trick of tries on his first appearance of the season against Hull KR in February and kept his place for Leeds’ clash with Melbourne Storm in Australia. However, he has not played since sustaining a knee injury in the Rhinos’ 23-6 defeat at Widnes a week later.
Leeds coach Brian McDermott said: “Jimmy is at the stage of his career where he needs consistent first-team rugby and, if he is not getting that with us, he needs to get it somewhere.
“We have put him on loan to Widnes to benefit us and Jimmy so when he does get that call-up to our side he has played recent Super League.
“He is a very popular player and a very good player and he certainly has a future here.”
Widnes’ Super League game with Hull FC on Thursday will be shown live on Sky Sports Arena.
