Justin Thomas takes an unorthodox route to the ninth green at TPC Sawgrass, via a cart path (twice) and a grandstand.
Justin Thomas played one of the most entertaining shots of the week on day three at The Players Championship, with his ball taking a most-unusual route to the green.
Thomas and close-friend Jordan Spieth were on the long ninth, and Thomas decided to have a pop at the green in two from 288 yards as he took the cover off his three-wood.
But he carved the shot way right towards the galleries and gave two shouts of “fore”, before his ball sailed over the crowds and cannoned off a cart path before soaring onto the roof of the grandstand to the right of the green.
However, he then enjoyed an extraordinary slice of good fortune as his ball rolled back down the roof and landed on the same cart path, bouncing high and back over the fans’ heads before finally coming to rest in the rough.
The world No 2 and Spieth certainly saw the funny side of the incident, although Thomas was unable to get up and down for birdie as he settled for a par-five which completed an outward 34.
