Granit Xhaka a doubt for Switzerland World Cup squad after training injury

Granit Xhaka’s place in Switzerland’s World Cup squad is in doubt after the Arsenal midfielder picked up an injury in training.

The Swiss FA confirmed Xhaka had to stop training on Thursday after injuring his knee in a duel.

He was not sent to hospital and was instead treated and examined by the physio at the team hotel.

A statement on the Swiss FA website said Xhaka reported feeling pain on the outside of his left knee and will be sent for an MRI scan before any further update on the injury is given.
