Gloucester head coach Johan Ackermann and his son Ruan will face no action from police over an incident in a nightclub, Gloucestershire Constabulary have confirmed.
The early-hours fracas took place outside the 21 Club nightclub in Cheltenham in December, shortly after their side’s 69-12 win against Zebre in a Challenge Cup match at Kingsholm.
The Ackermanns were given Gloucester’s full backing throughout the subsequent police investigation, which on Wednesday cleared them of any wrongdoing.
A club spokesman confirmed: “A police investigation into a recent incident involving Johan and Ruan Ackermann has confirmed that no further action will be taken.
“Having fully supported Johan and Ruan throughout this process, the club is delighted with the outcome of the investigation.
“Today’s news allows everyone involved to move on and to focus on an important few weeks on the pitch in the run into the end of the season.”
