While England were suffering a surprise ODI defeat to Scotland in Edinburgh, or ‘Henning Berg’ – former Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers defender – according to Bumble’s mispronunciation, attention turned to the upcoming Australia series and the hosts’ preparation for the World Cup in a year’s time.

Hussain believes England – the No 1 ranked side in the world – have never had a better chance to win the tournament, but warns that they must stay “ahead of the curve” with their one-day cricket, and that the bowling reserves are perhaps a cause for concern.

Bumble thinks Surrey’s Tom Curran could force his way in to the starting XI come the start of the tournament with a good showing against Australia, while both he and Hussain agree that the ECB’s qualifying rules should not be bent in order to allow Barbados-born Jofra Archer to become eligible to play for England in time for the World Cup.

Also on the podcast, sledging is on the agenda – not the type on ice though, Bumble – with Australia’s new coach, Justin Langer, said to be changing the culture of the team following the damage done by the ball-tampering controversy in South Africa earlier in the year.

5:47 Australia coach Justin Langer says his side will not stop sledging but that they are focussed on creating a 'great dressing room'.

Hussain interviewed Langer ahead of the series – watch the first ODI live on Sky Sports Cricket on Wednesday – who told him the team “would carry on sledging, but not resort to abuse”. But Bumble suggests there is no difference and that the two teams should just concentrate on the cricket.
