Loughborough travel to South Wales on Monday night to face Celtic Dragons, looking to close the gap on Vitality Superleague leaders Wasps.
Last year’s runners-up Lightning sit second in the Superleague table, six points adrift of the champions but, more importantly, locked on 24 points with three other teams, so their trip to Cardiff gives them the chance to open up a bit of breathing space.
Dragons have suffered three straight defeats since returning from the break for the Commonwealth Games, including a pair of heavy losses at Bath and Storm over the Bank Holiday weekend.
However, the Dragons have picked up both of their wins this season on their home court and will be gunning for revenge after a 69-45 defeat at Loughborough’s Sir David Wallace Sports Hall.

Loughborough head into the game on the back of an excellent run that has seen them rack up four wins in succession – their best form of the season – and they are finding their rhythm when they need it most.
The weekend’s results underline the competitive nature of the competition, with those not in play-off contention forcing the very best from the play-off chasing teams, and we can expect more of the same on Monday evening.
Sky Sports caught up with the Dragons last week, and you can see the full interview in our live coverage as Suzy Drane, Kelly Morgan and Amanda Varey spoke about the difficulty in balancing a sports career with their full-time profession.

A third win of the season for Dragons would move them up to seventh in the Superleague table, above Surrey and Severn Stars – the two teams they have beaten this season – but the scalp of Lightning would represent their most impressive result of the season so far.
