Abel Hernandez to leave Hull after turning down new deal

Abel Hernandez will leave Hull City this summer after rejecting the club’s offer of a new contract.

The Uruguayan striker’s deal at the KCOM Stadium expires this summer and he will now be free to move to a new club.

A Hull statement said: “Although the offer made to Hernandez exceeded what the club would normally offer at Championship level, the striker will now look to make a fresh start elsewhere.

“We would like to wish him well for the future.”

In a post on Instagram, Hernandez wrote: “Thank you to all the fans of Hull for these four beautiful years, in which they have given me all the affection, during good times and also during the not-so-good ones.

Hernandez joined the club in the summer of 2014 from Italian side Palermo and scored 39 goals in 110 games for the Championship side.

Sky sources reported last month that Leeds – who are looking to appoint Marcelo Bielsa as their new head coach – were keen on signing Hernandez.
